  • The first thing that you need to get good deals at CVS is an Extra Care Card. It is free and only takes a minute to sign up for it at the store. You will have this card scanned before every purchase that you make at CVS.
  • You can get one Extra Care card for each adult that lives in your household. This enables you to take advantage of FREE offers and good deals twice.

CVS shopping revolves around Extra Bucks. When Extra Bucks are offered on an item, they will print out at the bottom of your receipt after you make the purchase. For Example:

Crest Toothpaste is advertised as FREE after $2.99 Extra Bucks
You would buy the Crest Toothpaste and pay $2.99.
Your receipt would print out and at the bottom would be a coupon for $2.99 Extra Bucks.
You cut this off of the bottom of your receipt and use it to pay for your next purchase at CVS.
  • Watch for limits on Extra Bucks offers. Sometimes you can only get Extra Bucks on an item once. Sometimes the limit is up to 5.  At the bottom of your receipt it will tell you if you have reached your Extra Bucks limit on specific items.
  • CVS Extra Bucks usually expire 3 weeks after you get them. You can use as many Extra Buck coupons to pay with as you want. You will not receive change when you pay with Extra Bucks.
Besides Extra Bucks, CVS coupons will print at the bottom of your receipt. They will be for various products or something like $2 off your next $10 purchase. These are considered store coupons and can be combined with manufacturer coupons. For Example:
Excedrin Sale Price $5.00
Extra Bucks Offered: $3.00
CVS Excedrin Coupon: $2.00
Man. Excedrin Coupon: $1.00
So after coupons and Extra Bucks, you would make $1.00 buying this Excedrin.
  • Some CVS stores have a price check type scanning machine. If you scan your card at this machine each time you go to CVS  it will print you additional CVS store coupons.
  • Besides the weekly advertised deals, CVS puts out a monthly circular that includes Extra Bucks offers that are valid all month. You have to pick this up in the store as it does not come in the mail or the Sunday paper.
  • On top of earning Extra Bucks for buying specific items, you earn 2% Extra Bucks rewards for every purchase you make using your ExtraCare card. This bonus is awarded quarterly and will print at the bottom of the first receipt you get the following quarter.
  • If you register at CVS.com and give them your e-mail address you will receive a coupon for $4 off your $20 purchase.
